Jesus paid it all. You aren’t worthy. I’m not worthy. Yet God values a relationship with you and me so much that Jesus paid an enormously high price at the cross. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin. You and I were born into Adam and original sin. Because of our sin nature, we added our own sins on top of that. Since sin is burned up in the presence of God we were locked out of an eternal relationship with Him. But Jesus was different! God’s only Son and also God! God is three in one. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Since Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit He was not born with a sin nature which allowed Him to live a sinless life. Jesus. The ONLY one qualified to pay for my sins. The wages of sin are death. That payment was paid by Jesus on our behalf. When Paul says that Jesus fulfilled the law, this is what he means. The law demands payment. Jesus fulfilled that payment with His death.

But Jesus didn’t stay dead! On the third day He rose from the dead taking His rightful seat at the right hand of the Father making intercessory prayers for His saints. Jesus being raised from the dead has huge implications for us. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and our Savior we receive God the Holy Spirit as a deposit. The same resurrection power that raised Jesus from the dead is inside of us! Our Spirit sealed with God’s Spirit!  That gift of righteousness allows us to be in God’s presence for eternity!!! We are moved from the worldly kingdom of Adam and death to the Kingdom of God and life! It is the miracle of Jesus’ death at the cross and resurrection three days later.

Paul explains in Romans that while we have been sealed with God’s Spirit, we still sin because of our unredeemed bodies. We get new bodies at the resurrection of the saints and then sin will be defeated even in our flesh. Our imperfect flesh will be replaced with perfected bodies. Something to look forward to for sure!

Every day is Easter for the Christian. It is right and good to celebrate on Easter Sunday, no doubt! But everyday is a day we remember what Jesus did for us by paying our debt and rising from the dead. He was the first fruits of resurrection with the promise and power that we will do the same! God paid an extremely high price so we could have a relationship with Him in His presence forever. He must really love you!!!
