Proverbs 13:13
He who despises the word will be destroyed,
But he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.
Christianity is a team sport! The Body of Christ made up of millions of members each with gifts and talents for the building up of the Body for the work of the ministry. What is the ministry? The ministry of reconciliation! Christ reconciled us back to God, and we are to bring people to Christ so they can be reconciled too!
But you can be reconciled if you don’t humble yourself. You have yo see your need for Christ before you are going to accept His gift of salvation. But once you are reconciled, you are justified, and then starts the process of being sanctified. Sanctification = set apart for the good works that God created in advance for you to walk in! Ephesians 2:10 I believe. The sanctification process has a LOT to do with abiding in Christ. Indeed you can do nothing without Him. How do you abide? Read His Word! Pray. Spend time with His people. As we Christians fellowship we also encourage each other in Christ! Each of us using our gifts and talents to do so. It might be a teaching gift helping a fellow believer to understand God’s Word. It might be an encouragement to leave sin behind and follow God’s Word. It might be a prayer warrior who intercedes for the saints. The prayer of a righteous man (woman) availeth much! (See James)
Don’t despise the Word. It will lead to destruction. Rather, fear the commandment and be rewarded. A life aligned with God leads to no regrets. Backsliding leads to sorrow and pain (don’t ask me how I know that). If you have Godly sorrow, that will lead to repentance and back to fearing the commandment! And that my friend, is the dance of the Christian. And God is there encouraging us through His Word and through His people!
